Jason Kropf has spent his career working across many roles in Oregon's justice system — as a public defender, as a Deputy District Attorney, and now as a personal injury attorney at High Desert Law. He is currently serving his third term as State Representative for House District 54 in Bend.

Jason began his legal career as a public defender in Multnomah and Deschutes County, then spent 15 years as a Deputy District Attorney in Deschutes County. That time in the courtroom — across hundreds of cases — shaped how he reads a case, anticipates opposing strategy, and prepares for trial.

Much of his prosecutorial work involved children subjected to abuse and neglect, and survivors of domestic violence. He knows the weight these cases carry, and brings that same rigor to the injury cases he handles today as an injury lawyer.

Jason has called Bend home since 2003. He’s a product of Oregon public schools, beginning at Molalla Union High School and continuing through Oregon State University for his undergraduate degree. He earned his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1996 and has been practicing in Oregon ever since.

He served on the CASA of Central Oregon board from 2012 to 2020, worked to protect public lands and open spaces as a member of the Bend Park and Recreation District Board of Directors, and currently serves as State Representative for House District 54 — now in his third term.

His record in this community runs well beyond the courtroom. Jason is invested in Central Oregon in ways that inform how he approaches every case he takes.

Jason has provided trainings to attorneys, law enforcement, OSU-Cascade students, school administrators, DHS child welfare caseworkers, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, and mental health professionals. He has also served as an instructor for the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Reserve Academy.
